8 mile is 2nd choice in a recent poll

Walk the Line, the film about the life of singer Johnny Cash, has been voted the greatest music biopic in a poll.

The most recent film in the top 10 was Joy Division biopic Control. It debuted at Cannes Film Festival and came out in the UK earlier this month.

More than 2,000 film fans were polled by online DVD firm Lovefilm.

'Great partnership'

Walk the Line starred Joaquin Phoenix and Reese Witherspoon as Cash and his wife June Carter as the country stars and won the actress an Oscar in 2006.

In fifth place was The Doors, featuring Val Kilmer as doomed star Jim Morrison.

"Film and music make a great partnership and have resulted in some of the best acting performances in film," said a spokeswoman for Lovefilm.com.

"This poll showcases the very best the genre has to offer - whether it be a portrayal of a foul-mouthed rapper, a Motown legend or a classical composer." [/quote]

hmm i disagree. 8 mile was good, no doubt. but Walk The Line was better. 8 mile was basically an anecdote about Eminem, and was made very clear that the movie wasn't meant to be about him. Walk The Line was an actual attempt to portray Cash's life, and succeeded without commin across as a boring documentary or somethin. so in my eyes, Walk The Line was the better biopic although both were still very enjoyable.

Walk the line is a great film, johnny cash a great artist.. I agree with the top 3.

I`m actually surprised it's that far up the list, that's a great achievement, and actually it does deserve to be up there. The performances were no where near as good in 8 Mile as Ray or Walk The Line, but in terms of story and Entertainment 8 Mile is up there with the best of them. Lose Yourself is still the best thing about it though, that song alone brought it from a 5 out of ten movie to an 8 out of ten movie.
