noppers!!! well thats what i think
if you're not fit to raise a child don't kill it, put it up for adoption after the birth, i'm tired of this "it's the girls body" thing anybody who wants an abortion that wasn't raped should be shot after the baby is born, if there actually is an afterlife and all religions are true the baby will not have been baptised and go to hell, would you rather have your kid grow up with people who will love and take care of them or would you want them to die before they even get to see any of the world at all
and Yoshi, my mom was 14 when i was born, i wasn't aborted, and our lives were not ruined at all
Renegade, you're so lucky that you had a mom who was able to take care of you even though she was just a child when she had you - she must be an amazing person and very strong. I know there are a lot of people out there like your mom, but also that a lot of children born to teens aren't as lucky as you, some of these kids can't provide for their children materially, and some don't have the emotional reserves to do so - because they're just kids, and you can't expect them to be adults, even though they may have made the choice to have sex (or were "forced" to do it because they thought it was expected from them...).
I don't care about religious arguments, but ethically I agree that in the ideal world there would be no abortions - adoption is a much better option, also considering that there are so many couples out there who for some reason can't have children and whose greatest wish is to become parents. On the other hand I do think that abortion should be allowed until the 12th week of pregnancy as it is here in Denmark now - and here I have to trust the scientists on the time limit. Since it's the mother's body and, ultimately, responsibility it should be her choice. It's very easy to say that people should've thought about the risks before having sex, but in real life accidents do happen, and I don't think it's fair that a teen should have her entire life turned upside down just because of a moment's stupidity.
No matter if people decide to get an abortion or get the child it's a decision which has enormeous consequences not only for themselves but also for the child - and for a lot of girls, the decision to get an abortion is by no means easy and is something that haunts them for the rest of their lives. So the last thing they need is other people judging them or making life even harder for them - they're already judging themselves.
