How Would The Rap Industry Be Without Eminem?

In my opinnion the rap music wouldn't had so many fans if Shady didn't exist. He and Dr Dre made what the rap is today. So I think that Em is one of the most influentiall rappers in the rap history

i agree he brought many fans to the genre but he didnt make what rap is 2day  rap has been around since the 80's eminem wasnt big untill the 1999-2000 era so i dont get how u can say hes made rap what it is today. But yeah i think hes earned his place as a rap icon to say the least idk..

Eminem deffinetly is a HUGE influence to the rap world. I really don't think rap would be what it is right now without Em. He took the game to a whole new level with his music and really set a new standard. He brought tons of fans, has great record sales and even has his own clothing line. Em should deffinetly be remembered as an Icon.

I really think the rap of the age of 1990-2000, and the new century will miss him... I can't even imagine how it could be without his weight... as said Steve, Eminem was a huge influence in rap. The rap without him will get a bog loss of quality, I think he's one of the lastest great mainstream rappers.

it woudnt have as many White fans (fact)

it wouldnt have as many pop/crossover singles that eminem made popular

it wouldnt have 50 cent (big plus + )

aftermath probly wouldnt be as big as they are (they probly wouldnt even be a label no more) coz really eminem created that label not dre, eminem has released most stuff of it and before eminem the label never had any hugely sucesful releases, and 50 cent (half eminem's doing that hes signed) is the only other majorly succesful aftermath artist, dre's 2001 album wouldnt have been as succesful, since it most likely wouldnt have had the huge hit "forgot bout dre" (eminem wrote the whole thing and ft so its basically eminems song) and eminem (most likely) ghost wrote alot of stuff

it wouldnt have the wanne-be eminem's that flood myspace

and uh...it wouldnt have eminem :p lol

cant think of anything else

 ........That's true :y:

Well.. for me.. I would maybe have listened to Crank That or something if it wasn't any Eminem.
When I first heard Em I was in 4-5th grade (TES). Rap wasn't so big in Norway at that time.
Because of him, it got bigger, and every kid listened to him just because he said "Fuck", they didn't really understand his lyrics. So he had a big influence in Norway.

Just wanted to say that lol.
The others have said pretty much here.

without Shady/Aftermath other artists would have no one to look up to

rap would be dead and people would listen to hip-pop

not to mention a white rapper like me would probably have never been taken
even remotely seriously

so thank u Em and everyone at Shady/Aftermath for tha progression of rap

Rain makes a good point. With out Eminem white rappers would've taken longer to get respect.

Aftermath probably would've have died out since 2 of the major money makers (em & 50) wouldn't be there to support it.

Also, I think there wouldn't be so many pseudo-fans who only know a handful of rappers.

in my opinion, Em didn't have an influence on rap itself. you don't see artists comming out saying, "my influences are eminem, etc, etc...." he didn't really change rap. everything he did was just doing wut was already there but doing it well. that's all. he told stories, but people have told stories before him, his songs are full of multis n shit, but we all know it was done before him. he hasn't done anything "new" for rap other than surpass a skin issue.

as for the "he brought more fans to rap." i find that statement to be mostly false. minus a few exceptions, alot of Em fans stay inside the Shady/ Aftermath family. there are still quite a few people i see here on this site that when asked "who's your favorite rappers?" their answers are 95% Shady/ Aftermath artists or people Em has collabed with/ mentioned. not saying this is true for all Em fans. im sure there are still people who came into rap cuz of Em and ended up broadening their musical views, but a large majority are strictly shady family.

so to answer this question more directly:
the rap industry would have one less interesting artist. that's about it.

of course he did something to rap, but it's not like he brought a new style or something so drastic like some people are making it out to be.

he brought his own style which was based of other styles... like hadez said, multis, story-telling, emotion he didn't create those, he just incorporated them together.

he would of def affected it but not that much because remember there is still snoop dogg jayz nas t.i. all of them that have been around as long as em and before em, but also without em there would be no
-d12
-obie trice
-and bobbbycreek
there would still be 50 cent some one else would of got them there would just be no gunit!!
and there would still be stat quo cause dre would of still signed him
AFTERMATH WOULD STILL MUST LIKELY BE AROUND CAUSE INSTEAD OF FOCUSING ON EMINEM HE WOULD OF SIGNED OTHER YOUNG PEOPLE. and yes he would still have the game
