Eminem was known to be in the studio with T.I. and produced three tracks, two of which were produced for T.I.'s album, T.I. vs. T.I.P., and one for Eminem's album.[1] Rapper T.I. stated in an interview that the track recorded for the King Mathers album features T.I., T.I.P., Slim Shady, and Marshall Mathers.[2]
On May 24, 2007, Aftermath Entertainment and Shady Records labelmate 50 Cent indicated that Eminem is preparing a new solo album, though he did not give an official release date[3]. 50 Cent also confirmed he will be featured in the album; in fact, during an interview with the UK magazine Loaded, he said that he has "laid down a track" with Eminem for Mathers' new LP [4]. Cashis, another Shady Records labelmate, also attested to the new album, referring to it as "King Mathers". He said that it would be released in 2007, and that he would also be featured on the album.[5]
On August 1, 2007, Eminem's publicist, Dennis Dennehy, said that there is no album scheduled for a 2007 release, and claimed that the KingMathers.com website is "bogus". Despite this, he did not deny an album in the works.[6]
In an interview with HipHopDX.com, Stat Quo also confirmed that a new Eminem album will be released.[7]
On September 12, 2007, Eminem called in to the New York City based radio station Hot 97 to congratulate 50 Cent on Curtis, released the day before. Eminem stated that right now he is in "limbo" and that he does not know if and when he will release his next album.[8][9][10]
During a September interview with Los Angeles Times, Dr. Dre revealed that he will spend the next two months working on Eminem's new album.[11]
In a recent interview, D12 member Bizarre stated that the new D12 album is "on hold", because Interscope wants Eminem to release his album first.[12] He also said that Eminem is not involved with his new album, Blue Cheese 'n' Coney Island, because "he's busy doing his thing".[13]
In an interview on December 10, 2007, The Alchemist spoke of Eminem and stated that he is still working on rap music everyday and his new material was on 'another level'. He said, "Eminem is one of the greatest of all time, and you know he's not done with rap music. He's definitely still working. I mean, come on - this is Eminem, this is what he does. I can't tell you when he's coming or what not, but know that every day he wakes up...he's musically inclined, so you know he's creating something incredible." [14]
In an interview on December 26, 2007, fellow Aftermath artist Bishop Lamont stated that Dr. Dre played him some of Eminem's new tracks from Eminem's new album and that Eminem was 'back on that Slim Shady Shit'. He even said that he was very excited about the new album. [15]
