How could we know?
It just didn't made the cut maybe, or maybe the guys from Interscope/Aftermath didn't wanted it on the LP

I just sort of find it odd. The song shows off his skill so well...I think a lot of the other songs on the album that are similar in theme could have been dropped for this masterpiece.

probably cause they couldn't get the Beat, cause remember they had to get permission for every beat and they probably couldn't for that one.

im 100% sure a un-known producer would jump at the chance of having there beat on a aftermath release, so ill guess it just didnt make the cut :sweating:

Probably.

Also - I thought the quality of that song was terrible. The lyrics were good, but the overall quality was just below average.

Huh? What didn't you like about it specifically? The beat, or Eminem's performance of it?

no bar, the beat is probably sampled, so who ever produced it probably doesn't want to get sued over it.. so they didn't give the beat permission... you know?

...no, if the original producer used a sample that hadnt been cleared, but then gave Dre (well the bass brothers since they re-created all the beats for the album) permission to use it, the right's would have then been cleared and no one could have gotten sue'd, or the other scenario is that if eminems camp found out the original producer hadnt cleared sample rights, they then go ahead and just make the beat..the original producer cant copyright any of the work if he hasnt cleared the samples so he technically doesnt own anything of the beat. if he did try have a court case, its as simple as "you didnt have rights to do what you did and the other party (eminems producer) did have the rights" so the original producer would get fucked over twice, coz he could then get sue'd for not clearing the sample rights but trying to own the beat...

its hard to explain lol, but a simpler way is to say that unless Slim shady EP sold alot (bout 25,000) the owner of the sample would end up paying more money tyring to sue them (lawyers fee's) than what he would get back in return lol

I think the beat is pretty much on par with many of the beats on the TSSLP, the ones without Dre I mean.

I don't really give a shitabout the production though, given Eminem's amazing performance. Sorry that disracts you from an otherwise amazing song. :(

^ Production, mixing and Recording is like 60% of how to make a decent song, sure the mc can do great on it, but if the basics such as the beat ect. arent decent the song will never reach its potential

I tend to disagree. I think the lyrics and the performance and delivery of them by the artist are what ultimately make/break a song. I mean, 50 Cent and Kanye have some sick beats and production going on at times and 95% of the shit they put out is garbage because they're garbage rappers. I don't consider their shit 60% good just because the beats are phat and the production is flawless sometimes.

It's rare that a bad beat will ruin an absolutely SICK lyrical performance from a rapper for me.

i know, im talking about the production quality for a track to make and album, you could take a sick lyrical perfomence, flawless flow and shit to a record company and coz the beat comes on and the snare is distorted and the pella has too much reverb the A&R is goni stop and not even listen.

and on the note of 50 cent n stuff, yeh they suck but the reason there shitty songs with shitty lyrics get so many fans and played on radio stations is because of the beats and the production quality.

its sorta sad to admit but if a guy has great production and really bad rapping they can be a succes in the industry (soulja boy, 50 cent) but if they have great skillls and shit production there's no way theyll make it

there is acceptions, and i myself hate soulja boy n shit but thats just the way it is

Yeah but just because 50 enjoys commercial success doesn't mean he's any good or has any talent, Even if the quality of "Low, Down, Dirty" is shit, I don't care. It's a great performance by Eminem IMO and that's good enough for me to call it a classic and I think it should ahve eben included with all the other classics from TSSLP.

Don't you think the production of some of the other non-Dre songs on TSSLP straight from the EP are of similar quality to "Low, Down, Dirty"?

Radio wont play your song if they can play a better quality song, MTV wont put a video of a low quality song (production wise), and stores wont hold low quality products (production wise). The song was good lyricly, but failed in the mixing and production department, eminems verse has a lot of fuck-ups and bad structure, etc. It was not a quality rack, it was a crappy filler. if you liked it, fine.. Who cares? Dr.Dre didnt think it was good enough to put on an album that was going to be distributed world wide. Settled.

Like what, you fucking asshole? Be more specific.

i know 50 cent is shit, ive already sayed that, and i agree that i would rather listen to raw underground tracks than dumb down commercial bullshit, but what you aint grasping is why it wasnt on the LP. im not tlkaing of a personel opinion here, but the production mixing ect. basicly sucked, and dre and eminems a&r team obviously felt there was no point in puting somehitng that bad on it or even making the effort to try re-do it. its the buisness side of the music, not the personel view.

on a personel view, the track isnt a classic imo eminem its good on it yeh but it isnt of the standard of the other tracks on the EP.

and on the EP yeh i think the production quality is around the same, but i would say low down and dirty is nearer the bottom of the barrel, plus just dont give a fuck, if i had, just the two of us are excellently produced.

oh and for a quit note to people. DJ Head produced the track, he also produced Just the two of us, no ones iller and just dont give a fuck (radio edit, mr porter produced the track though)
