so wenever this topic comes up my buddy mentions his "uncle jack" its kinda funny..

Dr. Jack Kevorkian has been known as "Dr. Death" since at least 1956, when he conducted a study photographing patients' eyes as they died. Results established that blood vessels in the cornea contract and become invisible as the heart stops beating. In a 1958 paper, he suggested that death row inmates be euthanized, and their bodily organs harvested. In 1960, he proposed using condemned prisoners for medical experiments.

In 1989, a quadriplegic, too handicapped to kill himself, publicly asked for assistance, and Dr. Kevorkian began tinkering on a suicide machine. But a different patient -- Janet Adkins, a 54-year-old with Alzheimer's -- was the first to test the device. It worked. Kevorkian then provided services to at least 45 and possibly more satisfied customers.

In 1997, however, the U.S. Supreme Court ruled that Americans who want to kill themselves -- but are physically unable to do so -- have no Constitutional right to end their lives. Kevorkian was sentenced to 10-25 years in prison, but was paroled in 2007, in failing health and nearing his own death.

Since this topic is alive again, I might as well say something...

It's easy for happy people to call people who want to kill themselves cowards.
It's easy for them to say "Get over it. Work through it"
But people who say these things are ignorant to a huge level. You don't know what these people are going through. You shouldn't judge them.
Until you've felt what a suicidal person feels, you shouldn't judge them negatively. It's not easy to work through problems when you're feeling sad to the point you want to commit suicide, and anyone who says otherwise is an ignoramus.
So fuck everyone on the first page of this thread. You don't know what it feels like, so don't force your dumb opinion at anyone else.

I agree 100%. Only real cowards commit a suicide. People have to deal with their problems, they can't just run away. Everybody has hard times and problems. Suicide is just an easy way to get away, not solving the problems like they should.

Especially you. You don't know shit about this subject if you say things like that. Your hard times are nothing compared to what suicidal people go through. And even if they are equal, it depends on how strong of mind you are, or how negative things affect you. People who commit suicide aren't running away from problems. They simply don't have enough willpower to solve them.

And I'm sorry for going off like that...I've felt like I wanted to commit suicide in the past. It's not easy to get through it. Like I said, if you don't know how a person feels, don't judge them.

My sister ended her own life a couple of years ago. It's a real sad situation. My father never recovered from it.

yea i think there was a guy who really got sentenced to death penalty for "attempted murder" when he tried to commit suicide
