Crooked I Thinks Eminem Is The # 4 "Greatest Spitter" Ever

Postby Rapsoldier101 » Mar 10th, '08, 04:46

So I just got back home from Palm Springs Ca….. I had to do a radio show called The Basement (fly show!) and make an appearance at a club with my dude Mayor and his cuzzo Jason……You know I got sloppy drunk in the club, holdin’ two bottles of Grey Goose in the air everytime the d.j. played Big Shit Poppin…..but anyway, in the midst of the madness, this hip hop purist slash sexy ass bitch asked me who the best rapper ever is…….But of course I answered that question in my hotel room!...... So goodlookz baby ma, u gave me sumthin to speak on and speak on it I shall…………

Tupac Amaru mudda-fuckin Shakur is number 1…Why?...Bcuz the man has been gone for over a decade and I have 45 un-released song by him that are ten times better that most the shit out now!...Work Ethic 101!....Go listen to So Many Tears..that shit is poetry!…Lord Knows..that shit is thug gospel!....Part Time Mother??? Souljah’s Story???...I’m talking pre-Deathrow Pac right now, I aint even gotta mention All Eyes On Me or Don Killuminati to shut u niggaz down! Haha!!...How many rappers got tattoos everywhere and a six-pack bcuz of dat dude?.......

Jay-Z is number 2….Do you listen to his music or just skim thru it??...Yeah yeah I heard it all, ‘Jay be usin’ other niggaz lines too much’ or ‘ all he talks about is money and ice’…..okay you done?...Fuck that!...From one spitter to another, you ill my nigga…..All around flow hands down…Story tellin’…Gangster shit….Drug dealinz…Radio hits….Club bangerz….Consistency…..Don’t argue with me my niggaz!!..I KNOW THESE THINGS!!! Reasonable Doubt or Illmatic? You don’t know, you think you do because some music critic preferred one over the other and convinced you of what you think you know now!!!..Song for song you can’t tell me which album is best…but….i can tell u! hahaha!...

If u aint got beef yet, you will because number 3 is Ice Cube! Holla-back-what-it-do!!!...I’m havin’ an imaginary argument with all u niggaz!!............Who rocked the Apollo so hard that the hustlers in the crowd threw money on the stage? Who was the lyrical backbone to one of the greatest groups of all time N.W.A.? Who is an originator of Gangsta Rap?....Ice Cube has classics under his belt ya dig…….Amerikkka’s Most Wanted put production from my westcoast pimp potna Sir Jinx together with Hank Shocklee and The Bomb Squad!!..East meets West on a classic album from start to finish…… The Death Certificate Album cover alone is un-fuckwitable……A TOE TAG ON UNCLE SAM?!?....That albums socially conscious lyrical content made gangbangers join the Nation of Islam!!....As a matter of fact, number 4 called himself the new Ice Cube on a joint with number 2 called Renegade…………..

Yes, 4 is Slim Shady……..Why?...Maybe bcuz he can spit better than anybody you think should be number 4 (I’m still arguing with u niggaz) or number 3 or number 2…………Okay peep this, when a rapper writes a rhyme, the degrees of difficulty INCREASE when metaphors and similes have to be placed in a specific rhyme scheme therefore more points are awarded to those who can deliver dope rhyme patterns and dope rhymes simultaneously……Em understands……Which brings me to my tied for number 5 niggaz!!....Now here is where I get into trouble!....I’m gon’ have to tuck my chain in Brooklyn after this! Hahaha!!...B.I.G. and Nas tied for number 5…….

You niggaz ready to argue yet?!?.......I GOT MY SKY-BLUE SUGARHILL GANG T-SHIRT ON AND A FULLY LOADED CLIP SO BRING IT!!!lol……..Many people say B.I.G. is the BEST EVER and I might agree if he had more time to bless us with his creations….B.I.G. had everything it took to become the best ever….Charisma, skills, the ability to get gangster-grimy and still make club anthems…….One more album would have moved him up my personal top ten…I cant even imagine what that album would sound like! I know it would save us from some of this garbage out here right now!!! R.I.P. B.I.G. tied for 5 with my dude Nas……..Just so you know, on my list, number 1 is only winning by a nose and number 2 is ahead of 3 bcuz he’s stickin’ his neck out or sum shit………In other words, there aint a big gap between 1 and 10 and there aint no finish line so somebody could drop a classic and take the lead at anytime!...........Oh and I don’t put niggaz in my ten based on how many birds they flipped or who they shot and left bleedin’ or how many years they was locked up cuz that shit don’t impress me………...............

Now my Q.B. son Nasty Nas!!!.......His library is ridiculous, his influence is major, his style, you heard Ether ‘you love his style’!.........So that’s the first 5 yadda dig…….chew on it….sleep on it…..hate me………Allow me to make one more controversial statement, I banged It Was Written wayyyy more than Illmatic!!!!!!!........Opinions are like assholes so im an opinionated asshole!..........C.O.B….nexxweek

That's cool, it show haters that Eminem is really great. Everyone talks it, and it's true. :8) I think even tupac would rate him and a great rapper.

Good list. I like that he's not afraid of what people think of his opinions, and that he goes against what the "Critics" claim as the best rappers. He shows he has good taste in good music too. I don't really believe in numbering a top ten though, I think it's better to just make a top ten and say they're the greatest, 'cos they are all awesome in their own way.

When I seen he had Eminem, Jay-Z and Ice-Cube in his top 5, it kinda stank of "I'll drop their names, and hopefully they'll throw me a bone too", but he's also got Pac as number one, and there's no real profit to be got from making him number one, so I think his list is a genuine list of his faves. And there's no reason for me to think any of those don't deserve it either, as they're all legends!!

If Rakim's not in his list from 6 to 10, his list sucks though.

I am always infuriated by the absence of Big Pun in these lists too. He had the same amount of albums as Biggie out, and was a way sicker emcee (imo, fuck anyone who disagrees). I listen to Pun way more than Biggie, Pac or Jay-Z.

Yes, 4 is Slim Shady…….

Agree with Ice Cube, disagree with Jay-Z just cause I don't like him but I suppose he's good.

I kinda agreed with the Biggie thing, if he'd had another chance to release another album...

I've listened to Rakim loads of times, got his Paid In Full but he's never caught me with his words and his voice, he doesn't attract anything to me but I have to say he's good cause everybody says that and lyrics are al right but he I find his delivery sometimes a bit boring but his flow is excellent.

I would really like to enjoy his music more but it's hard, if anyone thinks has better songs of Rakim than Paid In Full and some random ones I have then please tell me.

sorry but you annoy me, paid in full was out what ? 10 years ago...probly more, yet you are judging him on it, would you judge eminem on that foolish pride track, say hes not that good and leave it at that ?

have you ever listened to any of rakims solo stuff after he split from eric B, that is relevently new or even his brand new tracks released no more than a week or 2 ago ?

18th Letter: The Book of Life
The Master

his 2 solo albums, download them listen and then make judgment on the man

or go to download section scroll down and get his "live lost and new" mixtape just released that has 4 brand new tracks, or scroll down a little more and get single links for 2 of his new tracks one named "hip hop" the other named "its nothing"

make an effort to listen to an artist before judging them, dam even i listened to about 8 lil wayne songs before deciding he was the wackest mother fucker ever.

fuck yeah but that's what from what I know (which might not be much) is his best or one of his best albums so I'd rather listen to that cause I've been recommenced but the thing is I don't like it much, but not liking it badly just not to keen on them there are a couple of songs which I like but the rest in my way or other i find it annoying just like i'm annnoying to u :flower:

it ain't paid in full only what i listened  but that kinda put me off 2 listen much more of his material

I'll listen to more of his stuff which is probably "Classic" and I'll be able to decide if I like him a bit more :)

@ DrRapid,

Check out this topic to get to know more about Rakim, unfortunately since this topic is pretty old, I'd say all the download links are dead. But the individual songs I recommended are some of his best songs, so I'd advise checking them out. I might even re-up them all myself later.

http://www.forum.trshady.com/viewtopic.php?f=6&t=29518&p=400218#p400218

I`m not buying the fact he never "caught you with his words", I think you haven't been listening very well. I agree the first time I listened to "Paid In Full" I wasn't that impressed, but if you look at it from a different angle, and think of what other hip-hop was out at that time, then you can appreciate it's power. Other rappers were not writing with multi-syllable rhyme patterns, internal rhyming (Rhymes in the middle of sentences), or metaphor's. So Rakim's first album will always be considered the most ground breaking, but it's nowhere near his best material. Check out his later albums with Eric B, and his 2 solo albums that Bar mentioned, there's some awesome songs on them.

The problem with Rakim, will never be about "His words", his problem is he's too consistent. What I mean is, he never changes, never tries different styles, different flows or deliveries. This is imo the reason new Rakim listeners get bored very easily with him. He never spits something with aggression, anger, sadness, or emotion. It's always laid back effortless jazzy flow, with exquisite lyrical rhymes. Is that negative? Not too his fans, but to new listeners, I think it is obviously. One thing you can say about the emcee's on "Crooked I"s list is that they can do it all, and that's what makes a great rapper greater, you have to be versatile and able to write and perform a rap about anything, that's what makes you the best of the best.

I'll have a look at the link, it's true that if I listen to it in another way I might enjoy it more, in general even though it's been a few years, I'm new to Hip Hop, I still have to listen to a lot of different artists and enjoy their music.

That bit about him never changing his emotions much must of been the part that I was mentioning which was "annoying" to me. I'll listen to him more but most of the music of Rakim apart from Paid In Full is in his duo, Juice Know The Ledge, Follow The Leader, around that time.
