Yes i agree with chet, Biggie TO ME is overfuckingrated, i've tried to listen to him but never got hooked on him, i like some of his songs but every time i hear he's one of the best i disagree.

I think xzibit's can be considered Underrated for the fact that no one mentions him, but everyone respects him so i guess he's not really..

there isnt a right and wrong but theres standards, saying people like rakim are over-rated is stupid, coz he gets credit for what he has and isnt overrated if he was overrated he would be more widely listened to, lil wayne is what you call over-rated not rakim. same goes for biggie, lol at poeple thinking he doesnt have a shout at being the greatest, there is only 6 or 7 other mc's in the mix with him and there all legends like nas, rakim, eminem, big pun, big L ect.

and about rakims songs sounding the same, thats all well and good coz its a style you like or dont like, but you dont judge there skill on stuff like that, you cant say "hes not that good coz all his songs sound the same and have highly metiphorical concepts with awesome worplday great rhymes and a solid flow pshhh OVER RATED BY FAR!" im over-ecxagerating but you catch my drift right ?

nah rakim i agree with you but Biggie I do not think he deserves to be called a top rapper, tbh if he wasn't killed I think his hype wouldn't be as big.

underrated?

Talib Kweli
Mos Def
Common
Guru
Immortal Technique
Xzibit

i didn't see any of them [except for mr X] being mentioned in this thread. all you fuckers complain about Obie being underrated, and i kinda agree, but it's not such a big deal. i wouldn't say he's this kind of outstanding rapper who's still in the shadow.

Talib is underrated and it's been bugging me ever since i started listening to him. because he's got outstanding flow. because he's got outstanding lyrics. because he keeps it real. because i think sun shines out of his ass even if he takes a shit.

Immortal Technique? wow, he's like all political and it means no one gives a shit about him, because he doesn't rap about bitches and money.

Common and Mos Def? same as Talib and Immortal. they usually keep it real, so one gives a shit.

Guru? do i have to explain?

Xzibit? he's from Cali and he's not all-gangsta. he doesn't moan about this hard life in Compton, so basically.. no one gives a shit. again.

and who we give a shit about?

about Lil' Wayne, just because he actually IS a total crap. we give a fuck about 50 Cent, because he's Crap with capital 'C'. we give a fuck about Jay-Z, because he fucks Beyonce and he made Blueprint. we also adore 2pac, just because he is 2pac and died and still releases new album every year. [i'm not a 2pac hater, i'm just sayin that a lot of people like 2pac dickridin because he died and he's famous and they practically don't give a shit about his music]

did i spit it all? yes, i think so.

its all about opinion and different tastes

but

Overated=50,soulja Boy,85% of southern Rappers
Underated=Big L,Papoose,Mos Def,The Game,Andre 3000,UGK

Biggie is overated compared to big L

i think Big L was a better Rapper

2pac is liked because of the emotion he had in his songs

whether it be the anger sadness or Just straight recklessness(Lol is that a word)

The game
soulja boy
dr dre (at rapping)
present snoop dogg
95% of southern rappers
present (from what we hear) eminem
everyone on shady records minus obie and d12 (on this site anyway)

i'm not sure about the Game. :-k but i think he lost alot because of this "G-Unot/Game Over" shit. if he just stepped away from it and made real music instead of '10k Bars', it would be much better for him. 'The Documentary' is an awesome album for me, for a moment i thought it might be the last resort for G-Unit; let's face it, he's better than 50, Yayo, Buck and Banks together. i didn't like his 2nd album though, but i still think he's good.

and i agree with the rest. Bobby Creek and Cashis - they're a disaster. Dre - lol funny that he doesn't even write his rhymes but people still say he's a great rapper.

Underrated -

Royce
Brother Ali
Talib
Lupe

Overrated -

Game
50
Biggie
Jay-Z (although i loved his American Gangster album)
Wayne
Chamillionaire
T.I.
Obie is overrated by the amount of people saying he's underrated
Kanye
T-Pain

i would mention people like Soulja Boy or however he spells it, but it's only his "Crank Dat" track that people dwelled on, not Soulja Boy. the people who listen to that song don't give two shits about his Geiko gecko lookin ass, they just want the song.

Overrated: Biggie (the most overrated rapper of all times), 2pac (plz, don't tell me he 's the best), Lil' Wayne (this guy is a shame), Cashis (first hearing he sounded good, but now...)....
Underrated: Some underground rappers like Tech N9ne, his group Da Regime (They 're very good but ignored)... I think obie trice too...

About Eminem: He's great and I think he was overrated just a few bunch of time in you career... he also was underrated most of you beggining career... I think he got the fame he deserves, I never heard a more impactin rapper sincce I came to to the rap, and it's still prevent me to analise him more critically.

What do u guys think about The Perceptionists?

I saw them in concert last year and they surprised me in a very positive way, seems not many people know about Mr Lif n Akrobatik. If u haven´t listened to them i think their album Black Dialogue is really worth checkin out.

but by your obie thing, then wouldn't royce be overrated 2

not in my eyes. nobody hates on obie, he's just slept on. nobody is sayin he's a dried dog terd in the sun. Royce on the other hand has quite a bit of people doggin on'em. and quite a few of them are the die hard Em fans who have chosen sides, but then if Em does a track with Royce again they'd be on Royce's dick as well.
