Convert files?

I've made a video in Sony Vegas Pro, but when I save the video, the format of it is some strange format. It's basically the Sony Vegas-format. And i was just wondering if there's a file converter-program that can convert ALL files into mpeg, avi, mp4 etc. etc?

I really need someone to answer this question, because it's for my school project. And if I doesn't complete it, I won't get any grades.

I never used that program before...but you might of hit the save button, instead of the save as button, or you hit the save project

cause why would they make it so you couldn't use it with anything but sony vegas
