Eminem Fell Off?

Postby gladimnotsoluble » Jun 30th, '08, 04:29

I know everyone hates on Em for falling off, and that he's terrible now; well who can blame them after songs like Ass Like That and Big Weenie, and for most who don't find the humor FACK.

However when you look at Encore even though it's not filled with great tracks but I don't believe Em deserves completely all the heat he's been getting, if you look at
Encore
Like Toy Soldiers
Yellow Brick Road
Spend Some Time- Sick verse, stat and obie ruin it in my opinion
Mosh (i don't like political songs that much, but if you're into it it's a good song)
Puke (some think it's annoying, i like it)
One Shot 2 Shot (good 'ole d12 song)
Mockingbird
Curtain Call
When I'm Gone
Re-Up
You Don't Know- really a great verse
Re-Up - this is what made me start writing this, this verse is a lyrical masterpiece, especially the beginning, i don't like how he ruins it with "kiss my black ass" or talking about bill clinton sex but it's still a really dope verse with a sick flow and nice rhymes.

Altogether...Em has released a bunch of dope stuff in this latter time period, so how can you say he's fallen off? Yeah a song with Akon or T.I. but...i mean I'm sure he listens to club music, what's wrong with him getting on a track like that, and touchdown was pretty good if the metaphors are true.

So tell me what you think, if this has been said many times or what. but maybe i'm just trying to keep myself positive for his new stuff...if it ever comes out

BTW obie gone sucks.

Good read, had some good points in there. Very true. And I agree about Obie too, lol.

i dont think he fell off lyrically as much as his mentality collapsed, it seems like he just doesn't feel like rapping anymore.. which results in him half assing it.

Well I don't think lyrical skill is something that can be lost. People can have a change in their state of mind and the way they think about things, and choose to take a different direction with whatever they're doing, but losing a skill like that is not easy.

Well he's gotten a lot less crazy, and you're right i think mentality wise, i mean it's a lot different when you're on the cover of every magazine and you're trying to get some money then when you have to take care of your daughter. But honestly i just don't know what to expect from his next album

But yeah, you guys are right

that's what I'm saying.. some people do fall off lyrically. I dont think that's the case with eminem.. I think his state of mind was just fucked up.. i'm glad he's taking time on his album because that maybe means he's fixing his mind state.

People only say he 'fell off' because he hasn't released an album in quite some time. He needs to release King Mathers and retire.

He's accomplished a lot, He didn't fall off. like Tash said, it's a different mind state, he chose to be the family man. Good for him.

If his next album sucks, I won't care because his career was great.

Totally agreed, who write songs knows what is when you write too much, you lose ideas and if they don't let your mind rest, and when you compromised with labels and need to write song with others (sometimes against you will, just for obligation), you start to get tired. Em got very busy since he started to produce and feature more, it affects the quality no matter how great the guy is. Eminem got like two decades of career in rap (includin' underground), it's hard to keep always the same since you gettin older and change.

I think Em did what most people do. When you love something (for example a song) you listen to it soooooo many times eventually you get sick of it for a while and dont listen to it for months but when you hear it again your in love with it again. I think thats what happened to Em, he put soo much amazin shit out without a break he kinda lost his love for music. But now three years later im sure hes gonna come back just as hard as SSLP MMLP TES.

if he really did, i don't care. i think what Maybe said was just right. the man had a great career and had a great influence on hip hop. he had his best years already [TES/8 Mile period], he released loads of great songs and for me, it wouldn't matter if he announced he's career is over. for real, there were rumours that he's finishing it and switching to production and i remember i was pissed about if, but when i look at it right now, i think it would be the best idea. if he had finished then, it would've been a great end of the career, when he was at the top.

now, everything at Shady Records seems to fuck up, people moan about "falling off" and stuff like that. fuck off, he's just a human. he did what he could to reach the position of one of the best mc's; besides think about it in this way: he's like 36 and he's got every right to retire and take care of what's more important than his career.

^ ya cuz most people retire when their 36 :p

anyways, no he shouldn't retire... most rappers who are in the top 10 have like 8-14 albums in their catalog's, eminem has 4.
