i just dislike'd the whole "hes always been lyrical" comment that the discussion started with.
basically what you said about the nas albums is why eminem's dip annoys me a whole lot more.
Some of them don't have the same skill level, vibe or concepts as Illmatic or Stillmatic, but they're all "Above Average" imo
eminem, dropped to average on alot of tracks on encore, and i was still positive, then his collab verses went below average, touchdown being way below average (imo) and then his re-up offerings being average (with no apologies being above average)
its sorta like when you got a favourite artists becuase they are good then they just stop being good its annoying, what annoys me more is the people who act as if he didnt drop dip in form, witch is why when we are in these discussion i always get perceived as negative.
You can't compare those guys to Eminem, because they've never risen to his heights. It's easy to be consistent when you're not successful. When you're on top of the world, it's a lot harder to stay at that level. You are judging rappers just by lyrical skills, that's naive. It takes more than that to be a truly great rapper. You have to have it all. Jay-Z and EMinem are top of the food chain, because they can do everything. Club songs, concept storytelling, lyrical exhibition shit, chart toppers, personal emotional stuff, you have to be able to do everything to be the greatest. When the above performers you mentioned can do all this, and make it pallatable for the whole world to want to listen to it, get back to me, cos that's real talent.
i agree witch is why i said about it, i cant say these guys would crumble coz i dont know the future so maybe they are bad examples, but they are the only few i could think off lol
and and about jay-z im complete bias when talking about him coz i just dont like him, i dunno why some of his stuff is ok but i just never liked him so i shouldnt really comment lol
But didn't you "include "Hailey's Song" as one of the songs you don't mind having simplistic lyrics? My question was asking what "Serious" songs did he continue using simplistic lyrics with?, and by "serious" what do you mean? Serious subject matter, or serious emcee type shit?
as serious i ment not pop crossovers or club tracks, and he hasnt did it on any serious tracks, again i wasnt commenting on eminem it was just a comment so people know i aint hating on non lyrical music lol
