What I was always told is that you want to make your lines roughly the same length/syllables.

For example

I like cheese and I;m really good at killing people
I own a steeple
and I really like goat and chicken radish on my beats
i'm thugging da streets

that would be hard to say because it's not structured well

I like cheese, and I kill people
I own this really pretty steeple
and I like goat radish on beats
all day I'm thugging the streets

that just seems to flow easier because the lines are more even..still a little odd because they're so short but better. I hope that made since and somebody speak up if I'm completely wrong but that's how I learned.
