Maybe somethin u did accidentally, made it so that it does that, look in your control panel, i used to have the problem of my computer shutting down instead of having a screen saver, but i just had to change that in the control panel.

switch the disk changer thingy...
and...stop typing in caps, why r u pissed off at me! thats what it implies.
such as this example:

No caps:
Ok, god.

CAPS:
OK, GOD.

----------------------
no caps implies the comparison to the person ur talking to and god.
caps implies that ur pissed off at the person that ur talking to.
----------------------
lol..sorry, i was bored.

My old computer fan got moved just a tad bit and then it started overheating and just shutting off all the time.

Just make sure it's not loose

i agree, i think that would work.

My first thought was a virus is doing it. I'd make sure to run a few scans. If you need some good programs I can point you in the right direction.

But yeah might be overheating like Chet said. I check your fans to see if they are working or possibly buy some more?

CAPS LOCK=CRUISE CONTROL FOR COOL

on-topic: In all honesty i've seen spyware infect a computer to the point of resetting it randomly.

And, as it's been stated, check the heat of it (eg. fans)

i had this problem because i had an uneven amount of RAM sticks. for some reason i couldn't have 3 ram sticks. i could have 1,2, or 4.

i also had this problem when i didn't have the drivers for my dvd burner installed, it kept going to a blue screen and restarting.

and a virus also caused this problem for me another time.

sometimes my computer does this now when the cable for my hard drive gets nudged.

by the way, your cd/dvd drive isn't called a hard drive, the hard drive is what holds all the data on your computer

Good Idea. You could try each ram stick individually?
