Google Chrome

Have you guys heard of this? It's google's new web browser. It's reallly fast, but as of yet I'm not sure if I like it more or less compared to FF3.

Also, I've added a poll because I'm curious what browser you guys use.

It came up like 30 minutes ago, and I've been using it to test. Here's my initial impression.

It screams Google: minimalistic, simple, but very effective. It's a whole new take on web browsing, each tab is it's own process. I've loaded 4 tabs in both this and FF and from what I've seen FF usually takes more memory (but not by much). Although with more tabs and some sites like gamestop, Chrome seemed to be much more of a memory hog. But the thing is, since each tab is it's own process Chrome loads pages ridiculously fast compared to the other browsers and if one page crashes, you can just end the process to that page alone instead of the whole browser. It's definitely something new and creative here. I also like how tabs can be taken out of one browser and made into it's own window and how multiple windows can be merged into one with tabs.

Other features I like
- When you search for words (ctrl+f) all the words that match are highlighted on the scrollbar...how cool is that?
- Text boxes can be resized if you drag the arrow in the bottom right (I made the one I'm typing in now bigger...it's pretty convenient).
-There's one bar that acts both as an address bar and a search bar, once again giving the minimalistic/clean look for this browser.

Lastly...there's the incognito mode where browsing doesn't leave any traces (history, cookies, etc.) so as Google claims, when you buy gifts for family/friends online, they won't be able to find out (pssssttt guys.... it's for porn).

The only peeve I find (I'm sure add-ons will be added eventually) is that in FF3 and IE the web pages choose whatever fonts it wants to display, whereas I can't find that option in Google Chrome. For instance if you do a google search in Chrome and FF3, you'll see in FF3 that the links are one font size bigger than the description whereas in Chrome it's all the same size. It's nothing big, but for some sites it just makes the font too small for my tastes and so I have to constantly change the font size.

I know about that, but that's the thing...you choose the fonts for the sites, whereas in Firefox you can leave a web page to decide whatever font it has chosen. For instance, I've chosen size 20 for Chrome, and on Google, all the fonts are size 20, but in firefox, the links in blue are size 20, but the text description is size 18.

I forgot about that! That's a really cool feature too.

Yeah it's in Beta, but Google's betas are often better than most full time products. For instance, look at Gmail it's still in Beta, but it's an awesome email client. But since Chrome came out yesterday there are some bugs for some people.

For some people, they can't scroll up using a laptop touchpad (but they can scroll down). However, I haven't seen this problem. Although, the browser has crashed on me a couple of times...but so has FF3 and IE so I'm not complaining (sadly the whole browser crashed which isn't supposed to happen with Chrome).

Ah...some things are too good to be true. I guess technically this means all my posts in this thread belong to Google huh?

Edit:

They realized their mistake and have fixed it :).

i've used this browser for a few days now, and i mostly like it. but for media (i.e. watching videos) it kinda sucks. i was watching a review for a game on a site and the video would freeze, then jump forward to catch up with the audio that would continue to play. but then i watched the same video with Firefox and it was fine. hope they fix this later.
