Strang Article on Eminem in textbook ??

So..I'm taking a class about Pop Culture and it mainly focuses on the 1960s but as I was reading through one of the books there was this article on Eminem. It's called Pop Goes the Rapper : A close Reading of Eminem's Genderphobia by Vincent Stephens. Its a typical article basically talking about his hate of gay people and promoting "wife beating" and describing how he treats the women in his life. Honestly, it makes him out to see like a monster in my opinion.

It was really weird to see an article on Em in a college text book.
I guess he truly is an legend at this point.

That doesn't mean he's known as a legend. He is in my opinion, but from the textbook, he is disrespected and not seen for who he really is. I think he's actually a reasonable person, just becuz he gets mad about stuf and makes a song to it, ppl flip out about it. It's just stupid. and i'm pretty sure his wife hit him too if i remember right. And he does not hate gays....and he does not promote violence, if ppl would quit being stupid and doing everything they hear in music, maybe the idiots writing these articles would realize that. And he doesn't think all women are bitches like a lot of people think, i remember he mentioned that in an interview. He just says he had a distorted view with growin up with his bitch mom and bitch wife pretty much. Anyways...nuff said. imo, ppl should respect Em instead of pulling all this bullshit out.
