infinite is a underground album from beats to skills to concepts, just pure raw talent on track, and his skill level shines with no question but the low production and the very edgy raw sound means its not a album you constantly bump.
then SSLP is a classic underground album with very little mainstream influence on track but with mainstream production value and people who like that style then this is one of the best albums out there.
then MMLP is very personel and has extremely strong songs with genuine classics on there and is a great album with very little outlook other than his personel feelings, you like that shit then this is one of the best albums out there.
then TES is the album were his skills meet mainstream infelunce and he does it in a way to cater everyone, and thats why this to the general person is the best album coz it reaches out to anyone of any genre of music.
and finally Encore, were the balance tips and he loses his skills and has far to much humor and not enough decent rapping, it was lazy and it wasnt creative enough to keep up the standard.

good post, but i dont think TES was mainstream, because you dont see those types of songs on any other mainstream album, the difference is it was a lot more light and not so much shock value...

songs like "Soldier" or "Till I Collapse" give me chills everytime i listen to them. the lyrics, his delivery, rhymes and metaphores, very good beats - it all creates a masterpiece. we got mature songs, where he spits out his frustration and pain - "Say Goodbye to Hollywood" or "Soldier", we got some easy-going stuff - "Business" or "Without Me", a bit of politics - "White America" or "Square Dance" [yes, there's a bit of politics in there], some deeper stuff like "Hailie's Song" - i actually don't like the song itself that much, but the rap part in the end is insane.. also "My Dad's Gone Crazy" is a sick track, jeez, i used to hate it, but then it grew on me and now i'm crazy about it.
there's no burping and farting, no dumb Fack-style jokes, which i think is a blessing. the only song i don't really like is "Drips", but i take is as a tiny mistake. besides - it's a masterpiece.

i would say slim shady LP did that or Infinate. Eminem show got him accepted and respected universaly as a hip hop artist, but he got the respect as an MC from slim shady lp and his underground music. no one doubted his skills as a MC after infinite, and once he sorted the flow on slim shady LP id say is when he got respected as a MC
