^ Hell no. The times have changed, he can't get back to that Slim Shady he used to be. He can't be that young blond over-the-top guy teenage girls drooled for but their parents hated, he can't rap about how poor and fucked up he is, he can't rap about being on shrooms all day long, he can't rap about killing Kim, he can't rap about being practically homeless. There is nothing he can still use except for his sharp and witty humor he used to have. There's no such thing like a complete relapse. And besides - his yellow hair looked hideous. I've always longed for that day he stops that shit & lets his hair be. He looks a lot more like a human this way. He's mature now. You can't expect a nearly 40-year-old man rap about killing prostitutes and doing shrooms... and - people need something new; the reason why he got so famous was that he was so shocking and crazy. If he'd try to repeat it, he'd fail miserably. Think about it.

Yah i agree with some of the stuff you said. But keep in mind that even though em is nearly 40, he sure can pass for someone a lot younger provided he wears make up. I don't think he can come back to the old shady, but maybe a similar shady, anything is better than encore. Right now is the perfect time in hip hop, for him to dive in and be creative.

Jens14, of course he has a lot of stuff to talk about, just not on those topics.

SacJB MVP, appearance doesn't affect the way he thinks. He isn't the same Shady anymore. He's a grown-up; he isn't wild, he stays at home with his daughters. He's trying to be a good example for them. What mattered for Shady doesn't matter for him anymore. Things have changed in his life and mind. He isn't a crazy dude who can't control himself anymore. He's mature. Obviously he still has his sarcastic sense of humor (I don't know what the fuck Encore's toilet humor was, that's very unlike him and I'm sure - or at least I hope - he won't repeat that mistake anymore) and he can use it, he can also use witty lines containing drug and bitch-slappin' jokes, but overall... the new album will probably talk about stuff that's been going on in the past 3 years - death of Proof, getting a divorce, all other crap... and quite obviously Hailie is still an important topic for him. Why in the world would he still rap about his wild past?

I think the new album will be different from all the others. It will be just him, Marshall Mathers, talking about how he feels and what he values now. As he said in the interview he doesn't want to become as famous as he used to be but he wants people to remember how he raps. The album will be for him, not for the Interscope sharks waiting for another big hit. He has no reason for doing it but his own will. As Shady is a part of him with that sarcastic sense of humor the album will contain it, surely not all the songs will be serious and I don't believe he uses the same manners as on Encore either, so yeah, in some way it will be a Shady-ish album. It will probably be a mixture of all his albums - Encore excluded, I hope.

Actually, to shorten it... the point of my long post was:
He doesn't need to be a product anymore. He doesn't have to make himself younger. He doesn't have to do anything he doesn't want to 'cause it's all up to him now. He feels the need to rap again, he has had so much crap going on. His Shady humor is a part of him so obviously it will last, but he won't be rappin' about shrooms & parties. Why? 'cause it isn't a part of his life anymore and he doesn't have to be a hot product for star-crazed teenagers to buy. His SS-side was for them, to help him break through, but in the position he's in, there's no need which was the meaning of what he was saying in the interview.

dolly shady, he CAN go back to the same way he grew up rhyming, right? I mean isn't that what a lot of people want? but i see what you mean, he is kind of passed all of that. but i think he does have a lot to rap about. the last few years or so he was going through lots of things and I think if he puts his heart in it, he can do a good job. Like Lose Yourself, that was a great song but it wasn't My Name Is Style. do you think he can still make good QUALITY music? I mean, don't you think he wants to dive in right now the way hip hop is going and just whoop ass one more time to show once and for all that he still has it? what i am asking is even though he can't go back 100 percent like he used to, can he still make GOOD music like Lose Yourself? do you think he will? yah i agree its kind of hard to make an album like the first, cuz he used to cap on will smith and christopher reeves. He would look like a fool i think if he went back 100 percent like that. because people know him too well. But in a way, I think he has to do something that is shocking and unexpected. Encore was not a bad album to me, but it just wasn't as exciting. so whats your opinon?

My lord. Does the Shady side mean quality hip hop and the Eminem side crap instead of rap?
Of course he can still make good music, how the fuck is it even connected with his different sides? Only the topics are different, the way he rhymes is always good - as long as he puts at least a tiny bit of effort in it unlike on Encore, obviously. I'm tired of defending it, but if you scroll through my older posts, you see I also don't think it was a bad album, it's just that we're very demanding and we weren't used to him just doing... something. He used to love rhyming & he drove it to perfection, but we didn't see it on half of the tracks. Even though, let's be honest - the production of Encore was absolutely fantastic.

But I'm 100% sure his new album will be good as he is very excited about hittin' the mic again & he wants to remind people how he rapped; also, he said in his new book that rap has turned to crap which is one of the reasons he's coming back - to show people what rap was all about; plus, he was bored on Encore, but he isn't now. And well, it's normal he got bored as the better songs that were supposed to be on it ('Love you more', 'We as Americans'...) got leaked and he had to make filling tracks to release it fast. Besides, he was on the top of his fame back then and he sorta hated it, but now everything is different. It will be a good album. Even if he can't make it better than TES & MMLP, it will be way better than Encore.

^ Agreed. There's no way it can be worse than Encore. But some of the songs he feat'd on since Encore were just ok tracks, they were good, but not up to his standard. So I mean with the relapse song dropping I have some restored faith in his skill, but I think the first single will tell us more.

Seriously, some of Eminem's best tracks were on Encore.

Like toy soldiers.
Mockingbird.
Crazy in love.
Mosh.
Spend some time.

I think all of those are really great tracks!

But I agree, previous albums had more great songs. But I don't think Encore is as bad as everyone keeps saying it was.
