What is an acceptable age difference in a relationship

Postby Emadyville » Oct 25th, '08, 16:34

I know overall age is factor, but as a general rule I've always heard half your age plus 7. Just curious what you all think. Let the debate begin.

I won't date anyone 3 years younger.
That's for now though, an age difference is more acceptable when both people are older, and I'm only 20 for now, lol.

Ok Chet I like your logic, makes sense. Since 18 legally means an adult.

when you're past 20-25, it doesn't matter that much. you practitally can't see a difference between 22 and let's say.. 24 years old people. i wouldn't like to date someone who's 23 at the moment rofl

unless it's some sick shit like 24 and 75, i don't believe in this. -__- or 17 and 43. this is close to pedo :shifty:

@ the 7 years rule: this would mean that a 30 yrs old guy should get himself a 22 yrs old wife. as long as they're happy there's nothing wrong with it.

Yeah I mean that's the general rule I heard before which I think makes sense, like if you're 20, a 17 year old is kind of shaky but ok, and if you're like 14 you should only be dating chicks ur age lol.

Well, obviously, when you're younger, an age difference is more important than when you're older. But like, i don't think there's anything wrong with 15 and 18 or somethin, as long as they're mature enuf to handle the relationship. But, yeah, like i wouldn't date someone that was 12, that's just weird...lol@thinking of a 7 year difference with 14 year old and 7 year old, lmfao......

No it's half your age plus 7. So if your 24 it's be half of 24 (12) plus 7, meaning 19. That says a 24 year old can date a 19 year old. Not just a 7 year difference lmfao.

It really depends. I mean when you're young it's like one year. 13 and 14. 14 and 15. Once you start getting to like 13 and 15/16 it starts to seem weird. It's only two years, but it seems weird to me. But once you hit like 17 and 18 everything up to pretty much 22 seems pretty normal. Once you're in your 20's everything and everyone is fair game. That's just me though.

once your 21 or older the age difference doesnt really matter anymore it just when mid teens are dating mid 20's its bad. for a 15 year old to go with a 20 year old its not good, but the same 5 year age difference for a 30 and a 35 year old is nothing.

Agree with your response the most man actually it's exactly how I feel! LOL
"Opening the book with Proof's chapter was real important for me," Eminem says. "Everything from my past moving into my future is marked by his passing. It's sort of like life when Proof was with us, and life after -- a real dividing factor. He means more to me than a book chapter could describe, but I'm glad I was able to put him first, like he did for me so many times." - THAT IS SOME REAL SHIT RIGHT THERE - FUCK YEAH - BIG PROOF 4 EVER!!!
