Subtitles

To the ppl where english isnt the main language, do you use subtitles when watching movies? Do you watch dubbed versions? We dont dub anything here, except for some disneys for the lil ones. I usually put on subtitles cause its just easyer, especially when watching with friends because it isnt always quiet. But when i download movies i just watch em without.
Imo dubbing the movies really ruins it, germans do it all the time, just as the french (shoutout to criz).

when i watch dvds i use subtitles because i prefer the original version, my english is ok but if i watched it without subtitles i wouldnt understand everything

I hate dutch subtitles, they are as accurate as Arafat aiming at a rabbit....
Though I find it kinda amusing watching a movie with english subtitles. If you something said, you can always read it.

If it's available, I usually watch with Swedish subtitle... but it's not a must.
I can easily watch a movie without subtitles.
Not to brag or anything, but I'm really good at the English language for a dude from Sweden.

nah. i only watch House MD with subtitles cause they use big words -__-' dubbing movies suck a big dick, they dubbed Harry Potter and it ruined EVERYTHING, same with Eragon.

i usuiallý put on finnish subtitles cauze i rarely watch movies alone so it can be noisy and i wouldn`t hear everything... and in the tv everything is already subtitled and you can`t take them off... but if the translation totally sucks i don`t read it... and like watching the simpsons or south park reading the subtitles would totallu ruine them ........ (well sometimes they mess up things in mtv and there`s no subtitles begin with... sometimes they mess up things real bad and there`s some fucking swedish subtitles, wich nobody understands a squat...[at leas i don`t] .....)
And I`m totally against the dubbing... even if its just some kids shows... (i wanted to kill someone when they suddenly dup Sponqebob into finnish one day)

well...when i download them i got no choice with or without subtitles....all movies i watched so far were without subtitles...
but kinda true...i would prefer to watch english movies...you learn a lot

I watch with subtitles when watching a movie I've rented or bought, and I rarely download movies, but if I do, it's without subs, because I can't find with subs.
I can watch without though, but then I have to have it quiet in the room, and the volume must be raised quite a lot, so I can get every word they say.

And when watching TV, I have no choice, so it's with subtitles, and I'm fine with that

Agree... And now to subtitles. Sometimes subtitles are not avaible for series that I download from net (Prison break & 24). If I want to look them inmediatly I dont use any subs, if I wait couple of days I watch them with finsubs ^^

I use subtitles if the dialog is heavy or it's not in english, then I won't miss anything that way.

Here they dub only Animation movies for little ones and that's fine, 'cause they don't understand the language yet and it's easier to watch for them. But dubbing the other movies... that sucks.

A buddy of mine always has subtitles on even if the tv is loud... it annoys me tho i hate seein writin going across the screen
