To show the world america is actually gonna change with a new president? Or at least try, its politics. Its showing the rest of the world in a way that you guys are getting rid of the old habits and fucked up stuff bush started.

Two reasons that I have no evidence of but make sense to me.

1). It's a show of good peace to the rest of the world. Kinda like, hey you know that place we're we torture and do all that corrupt stuff that you look down upon? We're closing it.

2). It's probably cheaper to conduct investigations of the prisoners there when you bring them into the US rather than to bring all the investigators to Cuba. I mean the reason they closed Alcatraz prison was because it was too expensive to keep open, so I'm guessing having a prison camp in Cuba isn't doing too well economically either. Add that to the political disaster, and I see it as a pretty smart move to close it down.

I don't care what anybody say's we should be able to torture terrorist if they have important information. And I'm tired of everyone hating on the U.S, it seems like it's just the cool thing to do now.

We do more for Africa and Mexico and third world countries than like anyone else. Were doing our part..

The problem is who is a terrorist and who isn't? You can't go torture people and end up realizing they are innocent. Also, it's probably because I'm pretty pacifistic, but I feel as a country we shouldn't descend to the tactics of terrorists and stoop to their level. If we torture people (especially innocent ones), we get a bad image and more people will hate the country creating more terrorists, and it will be an endless cycle.

I'm saying this not because I hate the U.S., but feel like it's heading down the wrong path and should be fixed :P. But yes, we do a lot for other countries. In fact, I've heard the people in Africa love Bush because of all the aid he sends over there. That's great, but one good deed does not erase a wrong one.
