I agree with you James, not because you're cool, but because you are right on what you are saying.

I've done that lot of times, but most of the times I give honest feed.
I don't like feed like "It's good, keep it up", or "I didn't like it, keep it up :y: "
It's easy to see why I don't like feed like that

Tash8 wrote:Was this whole thing written because I told you and Maybe that this site is just a bunch of dick riders, that won't give their opinion but rather agree on the opinions of the "cool" people on the site?

That's what I've been thinking for the past weeks. That's also the reason I am less active now.
I don't see James and Maybe on MSN anymore, and everytime I say hi to you Tash, you are going to school or football-practise lol :p
So I have no one to really talk about that...

C-Riz is my gta buddy and everything else rofl.

Hmm, what more should I say...?

That's bullshit. I don't do that even to Ax-D, a guy i've worked with for like 2 years.

C'mon, don't be stereotyping.

Anyway, this little thread isn't going to make these people stop ass kissing. If you're popular, you're popular: it's the circle of life.

I just ignore it though, i don't decide to become inactive.

I didn't stereotype anyone. I'd find it hard to believe that there wasn't at least ONE time everyone on hear went through and half listened to a song and said "yeah it was pretty good, flow was off in spots, but past that good job." Which doesn't really tell anyone anything. I'm not going to say it's impossible, but it's improbable as fuck. But hey, if you've managed, good for you.

And as for the don't insult people/don't care about their feelings. It's not hard to see the difference between "Wow this fucking sucks. Quit." and "Well the flow was shit, it wasn't very creative, your delivery sounded as generic as off brand cereal, the production was mediocre, etc" You're not holding punches because you're scared of making them feel bad, but you're not being a useless little prick.

And all that "beef" this and James vs Maybe shit would be retarded. Shit talking on the internet is great, but it doesn't help anything really. It gets annoying REALLY fucking fast. The issue is that when I was here before there were like 125-150 active members daily on TR and a lot of them had been around for a while which always helps. But now there's only like (this is what I'd guess) 80-100 people that frequent all the forums. With like 50 less people obviously the sites going to become a little boring, but it'll pick back up. TR has been in much worse situations and been fine. But this isn't about activity or dick riding someone's posts no matter what it is, it's about creative writing, audio, and gfx should be in there too. We're always going to have popular people and dick riders for those people, but that shouldn't interfere with people's ability to post and be given a chance to become better at a craft.

I never post in Audio or Creative anymore, I rarely used to, probably cause if I do i'll get told my posts useless because i'm just saying 'i like it, it's good' and not giving an essay on why. I'll admit that I don't know the difference between flow and delievery blahblah [well, I probably do if I took the time to work it out] But, if I like something, i'll say that. No, I probably won't say about all the things you said [flow etc etc] so as I stated before that probably means that my post is useless.

But I do think that the average person, i.e., myself, doesn't look at all those things when reading or listening to a song. If they like it they like it, maybe cause of the beat, or the words. But most average people will not launch into reasons as to why this is or why they don't like it. Sometimes cause you don't know yourself, you just know that you like it or you don't.

And that probably doesn't help anyone true, but, in my opinion, I think it does help to know that the average joe likes it or dislikes it, cause in all honesty, all the average joes out there will be the main people listening to the songs.

And, like Tesco says, every little helps :smoking:

P.S. I don't think i've ever written so much in one post, and it probably doesn't make much sense [if it doesn't tell me]. Blaha. Also, i'll probably get slated and say that it's useless only writing i like it blablablablajfojfklds but, to be frank, I don't care so :flower:

^It makes sense just fine, and I understand and agree with your points. If people that we know don't frequent creative forums decides to drop a post saying I like it a lot then cool. We'll appreciate it. If you don't like it however it would be helpful to give a reason or two why. You're right though, average joes who don't know the difference between vocabulary and a multie or flow and delivery are going to be the bulk of our audience, it's just that it isn't ONLY the people that don't know much dropping those comments.

I've done it and I have no excuse. Anonymous has done it. Maybe has even done it. It's when people like us, and creative writing/audio regulars, who people (especially beginners) really look to for advice, half ass posts that people get screwed over. All comments are appreciated, and if you like something, like you said, you may not have 50 technical reasons why, but anything you can think of will help whether it be you like the beat or how they sound when they say certain words or anything. And like I said before, it REALLY counts when it's negative feedback.

exactly, dickhead. :shifty:

i can.

i partially blame that fact that all the exciting topics get locked or deleted so easily now. that just sucks. because that's where all the fun is. maybe there should be a new section called 'TR beefs' where people can battle it out and really get personal, so rather than the topic getitng locked, it can just be moved to 'TR beefs' instead. i think this is an awesome idea.

blame yourself. really, going off-topic in every thread possible is the biggest problem. i know TR is different that most of the forums, because we're quite easy on the off-topic issue. i been to lots of forums and posts like "hell yeah" or " :worship: :worship: :worship: " in serious sections got deleted and reported. if you wanna chit-chat about your penis size in Hip Hop Section, get the fuck out. seriously, all you people can do is bitch about the forum "going down" and the easiest thing to do is blame the Staff, because we lock topics in Shady Sections. so maybe it's time to look at yourself and find something that you can improve instead pointing at others.

aww :shifty:

seriously, there's lots of threads going off-topic and we let you guys have fun for a while. but if we want to keep it on a decent level and have a good reputation, we gotta lock the thread. you got Backstage, you got PM's, you got msn - move the chit-chat there :y: we that's why Afterparty and Backstage got created in the first place.

now, with the Critics section, we hope the forum to get a little bit more active and of course, we all wait for Eminem new album and some cool ass discussions there.

And Scott you do know that most people here think your the problem with the forum. :o

lulz.

to who...?

James, Maybe and MC Anon..?

You do seem to have formed some kind of "group" in Creative Writing section where you dominate it, Anon and James especially.

I wouldn't call you the "problem" with the forum though.

I won't name names, but i have seen several very very high ranking members go into the Audio Stage or Creative Writing section and give feed to only select few people. Like Maybe, Bar, and recently James R. etc. It kinda pisses me off because they only seem to comment on people they know. This is just something i've noticed that again seems to indicate some kind of hierarchy on TR.

yes, you do. in fact, we're all hypocrites [i'm a proud one. :smoking: ] and we all do it these days. it's never been like that before and believe me, i'm on this forum almost since the beginning. and since i've been busy with my studies this month, i noticed how much it did change. i'm not saying i didn't take part in it, because i also played my role in the whole "dickriding" thing, but it's been really getting on my nerves lately.

define how.. :shifty:

Scott I really don't mind you. I mean you can be obnoxious as shit sometimes, but a lot of people can. The reason people think you are a problem on the forum is because you're THE BIGGEST free poster on the site. Since you've joined and people have stopped hating you for w/e reason they hated you, it's not hard to see a connection between threads that you post in and threads that end up 1000 miles away from where they started.

You talk about all these "greatest moments of TR" like they were golden years of people doing w/e they wanted when in fact that's as far from the truth as possible. If you ask people that have been here through those times (Slimm, Maybe, Tash, Angie, Yoshi, Asp, etc.) you'll come to realize that the best times were when there were people doing what they were supposed to be doing. Talking about hip-hop in the Hip Hop Forum. Talking about Eminem in the Eminem Section. Talking about news stories in General News. And saving all their free posting and randomness for the backstage.

TR, while on the internet, is a community the same as any other community and it runs smoothest when you have rules that are followed and enforced. Maybe is really a cool ass admin that could be a DICK to everyone and anyone. He lets people slide with their shit talking all over the forum, so for you to say that everything is too strict just shows that you haven't been on a forum that's ACTUALLY dying because it's nothing like this. It's full of 150 active people like you that talk about w/e they want and start random arguments trying to be funny all over the forum because it's fun. And it is fun at first, but it's not something that creates a good forum in the long run.
