Halloween, Friday the 13th, or A Nightmare on Elm Street?

Postby Ivy » Feb 1st, '09, 20:11

Halloween
On a cold Halloween night in Haddonfield, Illinois, in 1963, six year old Michael Myers brutally murdered his teenage sister after she had sex with her boyfriend. Michael is then locked inside Smith's Grove Warren County Sanitarium where he is placed under the care of Dr. Sam Loomis who is the only one who sees the pure evil within the soul of Michael. In October 1978, Michael escapes from the sanitarium. After witnessing the escape, Dr. Loomis heads back to Haddonfield where he knows Michael will kill again on Halloween night. Michael begins stalking three teenagers, Laurie Strode and her friends Annie and Lynda. With the help of the town sheriff, Loomis hunts for Michael and hopes to put an end to his grisly murder spree. But is it pure-coincidence that these three unlucky girls are being stalked by evil itself???

Friday the 13th
In 1957, A young boy named Jason Voorhees drowned. In 1958, two camp counselors were murdered. In 1962, fires and bad water thwarted the reopening of Camp Crystal Lake. Now in 1979, Crystal Lake is finally reopening thanks to Steve Christy with the help of a few new counselors. Ignoring the warnings from a local wacko, the murders start once again while a mysterious stalker prowls the area. Is it Revenge that the killer is looking for? Who will survive the nightmare and live to tell the story???

A Nightmare on Elm Street
In the early 1980's, a psychopath named Freddy Krueger - known as the Springwood Slasher - murdered several children with a glove outfitted with straight razor blades attached to the fingers. When a foolish decision by a judge sets him free, Krueger is burned alive in the boiler room where he worked by an angry mob of the parents whose children he terrorized & murdered. Years after his death, the children whose parents were responsible for Krueger's death - including Nancy Thompson, daughter of the police officer who arrested Krueger - are experiencing terrifying nightmares involving a burned man wearing a glove with razor blades on the fingers. The ghost of Freddy Krueger is haunting their dreams, and when Nancy's best friend Tina dies in her sleep violently during a dream confrontation with Krueger, Nancy realizes she must find a way to stop the evil psychopath's reign of terror - or never sleep again...

Well, I guess I will go ahead and get this topic started. Halloween hits a home run with me out of these Franchise films. It sounds really eery, but I can relate to being "different" like Michael Myers at the young age of six. While he was killing his sister, I was actually writing homicide stories and stories about serial killers. Not to many kids of that age even know that stuff exists, so I've always been different. However, that's not why I love the movies that portray Michael Myers. The music keeps you on the edge of your seat and frightened for most of the film, it can even foul you. The mask being ghostly white just gives me the "ebbie, bagebies" everytime I see one. And the fact that he uses an everyday item as his weapon of choice, makes it all the more believable; except the fact that he can't die...

I can't really vote because I haven't seen all three series, except for Nightmare on Elm Street. That said, the only reason I watched Nightmare on Elm Street is because it seemed the most interesting to me. Not only does killing you in a dream sound the most interesting to me, I heard/realized Freddy Krueger has a sick sense of humor :D. I've seen bits of the others, but I do want to fully watch Friday the 13th though, the original mainly and then the remake coming out.

I would highly recommend the Halloween series, if you want an updated version that doesn't look so old and blah, rent the 2007 release. It's amazing what they can think of, and it's great because it still follows the story-line of the original release, can't get any better than that... :8)

The shit would be if they did one of Jason, Freddy, and Michael. Put all of children's horrors and terrors in one film, get it directed by Steven Spielsburg, and you'd have one hot ass movie, with a bunch of thrills and chills...and most of all, GORE!!! :smoking:

I actually don't like the fact that Jason runs, because I always found it more enjoyable when the victims are running like crazy and Jason is just walking and then BOOM he ends up in front of them somehow :D.

That would freak me the shit out, if I running from a mass-murderer and I know he's walking and I'm running my ass off and next thing I know he pops out of a tree in front of me. If he's that good, and I can't outwit him, I deserve to be 6 foot under :(
