Why does the world hate America?

Maybe it's the same reason that so many AMERICANS hate America.

The people in power go unchecked half of the time by the people of the country that they are supposed to be working for. The politicians are corrupt, and the laws are pushed through with classist, racist (and any other "ist" you could think of) agendas. The only difference between the US and other countries is that we run around the world doing the same thing to everyone else that we do to ourselves.

Or maybe it's just because of Fox News...that's reason enough to hate America, as far as I'm concerned.

In all seriousness though, it's most likely because we never elected Hunter S. Thompson to any kind of political platform. If America was a Gonzo State right now, we'd have another type of image entirely...

Oh...and America rocks, it's just the fact that some of our people are ignorant, and religion crazed. It's truly a great place though, once you look past those parts that make it not-so-great...

note to the uk: So.. London.. i was pretty disappointed by Pizza Hut and Mcdonald's and all kinds of American chains in London. I really wanted to eat "English" food... .. then I discovered that your food sucks. If I come back... one of you has to take me to a good fish n' chips place because all the ones I had were really greasy. my favorite part about London is like... at around..... 4p or 5p, everyone is drinking and smoking.. lmao. we could never find anywhere to eat because all the restaurants turned into bars.. great place! and Herrods.. Well pretty much... yes.

But no i think its the arrogance of American politics.. to quote former president Bush (maybe an extremely bad example): "Who's not with us is against us". Your not gonna make friends in the world with that kind of talk. Its just your leaders think that they are not just the boss of the USA but the bosses of the word. Went to the USA myself a few times and the people are all very nice and friendly. So its just the politics cousing the bad image

I talked to dad, and I said I want to visit America (We're a muslim family, I am not lol), he was like "NEVER!, have you seen what America has done to the muslim countries, they are the reason of blablabla", and I said "So, it's the fucking government's fault (while Bush was President), but they're not the whole America. Why would we or I let them stop me from coming to America and walk around in NY... Not every citizen in America share the goverment's views..."

This isn't a topic i made to piss of americans, I am generally curious.

A majority of the world can't stand america, but what is the reason? I am interested to hear what you americans think may be the reason, but people from other countries are of course allowed to participate in the debate.

Personally I think it is because of americas (former?) foreign politics and 9/11, Iraq/Afghanistan war, the war on terror and the christian fanatics that seems to run the country. Bush played a big part of it in my opinion, but it is of course a lot of other factors.

What do you think?

During world war 2 (i think it was), america bombed several cities in japan. for fun. they were wiped off the map, all the remained was ashed buildings, and scolded corpses.

Yep, you're right man, just for the fun of it. In fact they found it so hilarious that they destroyed two whole fucking cities with only two bombs.

They went by the name of atomic bombs. Those cities were called Hiroshima and Nagasaki and they weren't bombed for fun, they did that so that the Japanese would surrender instead, this in August 1945. If they hadn't done that then they would of probably done a landing to the main Japanese land ending with more casualties. Although it is horrifying to kill all those innocent people. Get it right!

Yeah... America bombed Japan for nooo reason. Don't mind them flying planes into our ships, don't mind that wholre Pearl Harbor attack which was the worst American tragedy until 9/11 happened.
