what do u do for a living, do u like it, do u have any regrets, would u rather work at a better paying job that u hate than a lower paying one that u love.


just curious about all this cuz right now i have no idea what i want and where things are going. right now i dont have a job and im sick of just the idea of having a dead end job that ill hate going to everyday. im having an awesome time just chillin and partying but u obviously need money for the things u want in life. i love music. prolly the only thing that i truly love and what helps me through shitty times. theres this school kind of thing called the recording connection. 6 months learning from a music producer. i would have to take a loan out for like 5 grand to do this and up to after a year after graduating theyll help look for a job for you. and u can do this anywhere. i live in buffalo, ny. and i love rap music. soo not really a great place for that so i was thinking maybe L.A. or new york? but thatd be hard also, just leaving everything behind. fuck life lol

You should think very carefully about whether or not to take out a loan for such a thing.

This is the issue with a lot of deals like this. Federal Student Loans often have fairly low interest rates, but this type of schooling doesn't really sound like it would qualify for federal aid, and that presents a huge problem. For instance, they may finance your balance with the school through an outside loan company and the interest rate could be as high as 18%. On a 5,000 dollar loan, you're talking about nearly doubling your debt if you don't have an expedient payment plan.

Okay, the thing with "helping you find work" can really be a crock sometimes. What some of these schools do is hook you with a poor excuse for a career services office that will give you job listings that you could probably get yourself without their help. That doesn't even guarantee that you will get the job, and don't expect much more help than that from them.

Right now the music industry is suffering like never before and to choose it as a career is risky enough. When you're talking about taking out a large sum of money (even larger with interest) to pursue this career is more than risky. I would say that it's inadvisable--especially when those who most often make it (in rap especially) did it without formal training from a school such as this one.

If you can't pay for it in cash, don't do it. If you CAN pay for it in cash, I would consider spending it on equipment instead, and work your ass off to get good with it on your own.

yea and how did all that work out for you

For me, it worked out quite well so far. I wanted to become an airline pilot so i did it. Before i started this i had my doubts for a long time (big loan, no support from the government couse its a private school). But when i hear people about the wrong dicisions they made just becouse of money or things other people told them im glad i did it. I am the happiest person in the world when i drive to school. This kind of disicions affect the rest of your life you know, so do something you really like the most, in your case music.

Thats what i would do atleast good you think about it that well, these disicions are hard.
