What do you enjoy most in a rap song?

Postby Coccoa » Dec 26th, '05, 17:47

Well let's face it. 90% of you are Eminem groupies and/or have no idea of hiphop music, you ve never seen projects, you ve never seen people starving and most of you will never understand the true meaning of G.H.E.T.T.O.

So while you all listen to this music desperately tryina understand how Harlem, Sugarhill, Jamaica, St. Louis, Nashville, N. Orleans, Watts, Long Beach, Compton etc. people live and die, just tell me what you like most in a rap song.

yeah, none of us have seen ppl starving cause we all live in fairytale.. :-s

what i enjoy in rap songs is um.. everything i guess. beat is important cause we hear it as first usually - when it's crappy or boring it makes me don't want to listen to it.. flow and skills - same as with beat - when rapper doesn't have skills, his flow makes u sick u don't want to listen to him, u think only about turning it off :p and lyrics - lol.. it's not as much important for me as other things.. [maybe cause sometimes i don't understand them lmaof :D ]

i chose the 4th because to make a rap song u need al those aspects...
sometimes im feeling good when a rapper says something genius..
sometimes its ok when i want to party to have a nice beat...
sometimes i get let lose with someones flow, which can really inspire me..

so it's about the moment whatever i feel its the most important, without being a groupie :tounge2:

i like evrything...
da beats, lyrics.....skillz....EVRYTHING MAN

A Rap is more than just actin like a gangsta
its livin your lyrics......

But to be a rapper ya don have to be broke as fuk
no......you can be rich as long as there is something you really KNOW about you can rap about it
of course your skillz get tighter if you been through ruff situations in life
but like i said.......ain have to be THAT reason

Im not a good rapper but i really tryin to become one.
Im not broke and i didnt escape death.......(how else can i say this?)
But I have my reasons fo doin dis

And I think havin a reason fo rappin is the only promotion you get

You don't have to understand the true meaning of the ghetto to enjoy hip hop music. Regardless how difficult the struggle, how real the lyrics are and how much skill is involved .. if the track is not enjoyable to listen to then it shouldn't be listened to simply for the fact that it lives up to a now mostly fabricated environment.

I voted for lyrics, a song with a hot beat and flow will be listened to and will sell well .. but my favourite tracks have and always will contain and meaning and be well written ...

I pick lyrics, hands down. That's why I'm such a Wu-Tang fan. Beats don't really count for much unless it's a party or something, and a good flow becomes a whack one when the lyrics are meaningless. Plus music=art, and lyrics are the expression in the music.
