BARLBOROUGH, England, Sept. 22 (UPI) -- British police said they arrested a pair of builders who allegedly began demolishing a farmhouse while the resident family was still inside.
Investigators said Roydon Toon, 59, and his son, Gavin, 33, began removing tiles, joists and insulation from the roof of the Barlborough, England, farmhouse at about 8:10 a.m. Monday and continued the project for six hours, despite the presence of 10 police cars and a helicopter demanding they cease, The Sun reported Tuesday.
James and Julia Arthur were inside the house with their young daughter during the incident, police said.
Investigators said Toon was upset with the Arthurs for refusing to pay nearly $24,500 he claims he is still owed for an extension he added to the farmhouse five years ago.
Toon and his son were arrested after climbing down from the roof and charged with causing criminal damage with intent to endanger life. They were released on bail Monday night
