FRAMINGHAM, Mass., Oct. 9 (UPI) -- A Boston man who admitted stealing a bottle of wine told police he had no idea it was worth $20,000, prosecutors say.
Prosecutor Ken Sullivan said Thursday in Framingham District Court that Ryan Adams, 29, admitted during police questioning he stole the 1945 Mouton Rothschild along with a $300 bottle of the same brand from 1992 and two bottles of 2000 Mouton Rothschild, each worth $875, but that he was unaware of their value, the MetroWest Daily News of Framingham reported Friday.
Police said Sullivan took the bottles from Hopkinton Wine & Spirits with the help of two accomplices, a man and a woman. The $20,000 bottle was turned in to police unopened by Adams' father. The other two bottles have not been recovered.
Sullivan pleaded not guilty to two counts each of larceny from a building and larceny of property worth more than $250.
Judge Sarah Singer set bail at $500 and scheduled a pretrial conference for Nov. 10.
