Racism N.E.W Back Again

Each day we face problems, each day there's a new sin,
Each day we learn to hate the world that we live in.
Each day there's more hate, more crimes that we have to face,
And even in 2007...crimes about race.
Crimes about the place that you grew up in or reside,
Threats that divide...rivers that are cried.
But not all is negative, not everything seems bad,
At least we have people willing to go through rehab.
Those that have needed help for so long, admitted they're wrong,
Willing to look aside and again become strong.
But sadly when they do, the people make them drown,
Pound them to the ground, run them out of town.
Like Britney's recent performance, the V.M.A's were worldwide,
Her performance was dry, and in the end she just cried.
She started off a different person, her eyes were starry,
And ended with a slight "Thank You," that was more like a "Sorry."
She knew that she did bad, she cried in a rage,
But the people cared more that she almost tripped walking offstage.
Her mind is in a mesh, she can't help but linger,
But instead of being supportive, the people point the finger...

Here's a Thought:

Forced to hide in her sweater, and read hateful letters,
How can you expect her to better when the world doesn't let her?

Fifty-three years since the Jim Crow laws were buried in the sticks,
But still we have occurrences like those with the Jena 6.
Black and white are opposites, it's a known fact,
But by now we've grown to learn that opposites should attract.
So let's retract, and think, before we convict them,
About the example that we're setting...for our children.
They go to school and are exposed to all types of nationalities,
Yet they treat people the way that they're treated by their families.
So if you perform racist acts, racial rants, through and through,
How can you be surprised when your child does it too?

The world is full of lie and deceit, it all starts at birth,
Yet it's funny how global warming is normal to the earth.
NASA recently fixed a Y2K bug, several plans have been wrecked,
Hottest day of the year is now 1934, their data was incorrect.
So it turns out that this battle isn't much of an assault,
But for years we've been told that the earth's condition is our fault.
Everyone looks to blame someone else, the accusations are unfurled,
But we have no one to blame, for we're all Shapers of the World.
