Because they're a different colour to the other countries (i'm not saying there's not people with a different colour in them countries, but pakistan is mainly non-whites). Although it's usually pakistani, and i guess just shortened to paki. But yeah..i'm betting it's to do with their colour.

I guess it is like a white person using the N word towards a black person.

People from Pakistan can say Paki, but a person from another country cant.

Thanks for the intelligent response to my answer to your post. You can disagree, but since its the serious debate section, it would be nice to give a response wich actually contains some information on why you disagree... :flower:

no. i mean it's stupid that people from pakistan can call each other a paki, and no one else can, PLUS i have found a fault in sophies theory.

fair enough, we can't call them paki's 'cause their different colour.

but so are we, to them, we are a different colour, but it's not racist for them to call us brits. is it?

Well allright then, I see what you mean now, it is not always easy on the internet to see the meaning of a single scentense. :sweating:

But I have to agree, its more ignorance than anything else. I think the origin of that has to do with the colonial history of Pakistan.

Becase your countries haven't recently been invaded by power hungry motherfuckers. You aren't ridiculed wherever you go. You aren't considered the 3rd World. You consider yourselves at the top of the world, so I think not saying a few words will actually hurt. Paki is racist, Brit isn't. End of story. Don't say Paki. If you do, I hope its around a touchy Pakistani. :y:

i'd like to see your response to that sophie :smoking:
I'm not denying that, but it's never gonna be deemed racist calling names towards whites, period. It's like a black person saying to us 'oh you white'...but that's never gonna be called racist. They'll always have a power over white people for that because of the whole history.

Don't even get me started on that term. How black people can use it against each other when it was used by a white person as a term of abuse is beyond me. And btw, that doesn't make you cool. (i'm saying that because you did the smoke smiley).

Well, I've never been offended when a guy calls me Paki, maybe because I haven't met an english person who has called me that.

Also, it depends on what way you call them/me paki. If you say "fucking paki", then that's kimd off discrimination, same way as if a brownie call a whitey for ... Uh, I don't know, I have never called a white guy anything racist.

In Norway, "Pakiss" is considered racist, but now, some people, including me, have started to call those pakistani criminals for "Pakiss", and the good ones for pakistanis, who are people like me :)

The reason is that Norway's two biggest gangs (who are rivals) consists of "Pakisses", and they are in Oslo, the capital... Where I live. And many pakistani people here (teenagers) are like wannabe's. They always cause trouble and all that ...

So... I wouldn't say its racist if you say it in a normal and friendly way.

Hell, the school I am now, two years ago they didnt like me, because "I was pakiss", but I proved wrong and explained shit, so now they like me. They still make jokes about us, but just as fun ... Hell, I do too.

" Ay you...yea you...you PAKI, whatchu lookin at?? ( ) best mind your own businesss before i slap that brown off your face!!"

"DAYMM!!! IS THAT MUSTAFA THE PAKI dude?!! its been ages since we last spoke! we used to go to high skool together" ( :p )

The term paki is not racist, its how you say it, Prince Harry faced a lot of slack over the same shit when he called a pakistani soldier in his platoon (who was realli close with harry) a "PAKI" and some one filmed it, that shit got leaked and the press went mad thinkin that the Prince was racist.
If you look at us forum members, we throw the term Ni**a around as often as "brother" but the context is never racist, every one understand he's not callin the other person a slave.

Again, its HOW YOU SAY IT

I call people Paki, N.igger, and whatever... But, I guess, where I'm from it's okay for someone like me to say such things. Considering the fact that I'm not white, and not black either. Light skinned FTW!
