I have a Shure SM58 which is good to record vocals or whatever. Proper mixing makes it sound even nicer. You'll want a preamp of some sort, or perhaps a mixer with built-in preamps, but the mixer route will be a little bit lower quality.

If you're getting a condensor mic, you definitely want a pop guard. They're alot more sensitive, and will pick up noise easier.

If you know how to mix properly so you don't need SO expensive equipments, and if you only need a mic + mixer or preamp so 100-200£ is totally enough :y: some ppl can't get even good quality with expensive equipments if they don't know anything about mixing, I've seen that happen many times :shakehead:

Mixing is a huge part of quality but if you start with a distorted sound with a lot of pops and clicks then you can only do so much with it..by the time you get all the impurities out your vocals will be compressed flat and come out over processed..
